What We Believe

The primary purpose of the National Federation of the Blind and our Texas affiliate is to serve as a vehicle for collective action by the blind. Our core belief is that the blind can and will speak for themselves. Embodied in this self-determination is the understanding that progress comes from blind people working together, sharing individual dreams and speaking with a more powerful, unified voice than any one person could on his or her own.

The National Federation of the Blind of Texas knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
