The Dallas Chapter is a cross-section of Federationists, some new to blindness and others blind since birth, dedicated to educating their community. Members host an information table during the local VA hospital health fare and offer massages courtesy of a licensed massage therapist chapter member. The chapter collaborated with the Meadow Museum of Art in honor of Meet the Blind Month to make exhibits more accessible with touch-tours and docents trained to provide audio descriptions. Members have the opportunity to register to vote and practice using an accessible voting booth at periodic meetings throughout the year.
The Dallas Chapter meets in the community room of Central Market on the second Saturday of each month, 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m., and encourages members to come early or stay late to socialize. Different topics are discussed each meeting to focus on the philosophical and practical aspects of blindness. a 50/50 raffle and incrementally increasing attendance incentive take place each month, and chapter auctions complete with an auctioneer are held at meetings three times each year.
Meeting Location: Dallas Central Market (Community Room) at 5750 East Lovers Lane
Time: 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month
