Houston Chapter

Houston Chapter

The Houston Chapter is a dynamic group of blind students, professionals and retirees demonstrating through action that blind people give back to their community. During October, known as "Meet the Blind Month," the chapter partners with the Houston Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities and other organizations to celebrate White Cane Safety Day. The chapter reaches out to educate blind youth through the Houston NFB BELL Program and Saturday BELL School events, providing $1,000 toward state scholarships and purchasing braille children’s books for the Braille Book Fair at the NFB National Convention. The chapter gives back to its membership by sponsoring flights to NFB Washington Seminar.

Members and guests are invited to stay after for a group lunch at nearby restaurants. Meetings include Presidential Release trivia questions, member reviews of Braille Monitor articles and door prizes. NFB seminar discussions about contemporary blindness issues and guest speakers are featured quarterly. Check out the Houston Chapter on Facebook for more information.

Donate, Pay Dues, or Pay for a fund raiser

Please note that you must be voted into the Houston chapter before you can pay dues to the chapter. This requires your physical presence at a meeting. A list of NFB Texas chapters can be found on our chapters and divisions webpage. If there is no meeting location close to you, please contact the Lone Star Chapter, which meets by Zoom and covers all of Texas. The NFB prefers that people attend chapter meetings in person if possible.
