Pre-Order NFB 2023 Tours

May 4, 2023

This summer, the National Federation of the Blind will hold its annual convention in Houston, TX. The dates for the convention are July 1-6. During the convention, the National Federation of the Blind of Texas is planning to host several tours for those in attendance. If you are interested in one or more of those tours, you may complete our pre-order form, and we will follow up with you in the next few days with an invoice for your total tour cost.

Tours to Space Center Houston will cost $35.00 per person, regardless of age. There are three tour opportunities. You will find information about dates and times on the pre-registration form. You'll find the link below.

We are also offering a tour of the Houston Museum of Natural Science, which includes an exhibit by 3-D Photo Works of King Tut's sarcophagus. This touchable piece will provide visitors with all kinds of information about the boy king. Tours of all exhibits will be led by docents. The museum would like feedback regarding ways to make the museum more accessible, and we will send everyone who attends a brief survey following the tour so you can offer comments. The tour price for this event is $37.00, regardless of age. Like the Spacenter Houston tour, the price includes both the tour ticket(s) and roundtrip transportation.

On July 7, the Houston Astros will play the Seattle Mariners, at Minute Maid Park, a.k.a the Juice Box. The game will begin at 7:10 PM, and we plan to take a group of Federationists to that game. Listen to the May 31 Presidential Release for a special announcement regarding activities at the game. The Astros have not given us a firm price for tickets yet. However, we have asked them to keep pricing below $100 per seat. The ballpark is only about a half mile from the Hilton and a quarter mile from the Marriott. So, no transportation is included with this tour.

We will accept reservations until June 26 or until all tickets are sold, whichever comes first. When tours are closed, the pre-registration form will no longer accept reservations. When that happens, we will absolutely accept no more reservations. So, hurry and use the link below to reserve your seat.

Please note that completing the pre-order form will hold your tickets until we have invoiced you. However, we will not consider your seats confirmed until you actually make payment. If you have not made payment by the time we close sales, your tickets will be released. If, for any reason, you decide you cannot attend before the deadline, please notify us so we can make your tickets available to other people who may wish to attend. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Our form is date and time-stamped for accuracy.

We must purchase tickets in advance of tours. So, unless you notify us that you no longer wish to attend a tour before June 26, we will not be able to make refunds. We will make prompt refunds if notified prior to the June 26 deadline. However, this creates extra work for us at a very busy time, so I hope you'll carefully consider your availability for the tour you select in order to help eliminate the need for lots of refunds. We know unavoidable things happen, and we'll work with you if they do. We really appreciate your help and thoughtfulness on this subject. Our family always works together.

If you have already pre-ordered tickets, you should receive your invoice between June 1 and June 15. If you make your reservations after June 1, your invoice will be generated as we receive your reservation(s).

We will email you about ticket pick-up once you have paid for your tickets. Please, watch your email for communications regarding tours. All important information will be sent using that medium.

You can also watch this news story for updates. If the story doesn't change, there have been no changes to tour information. We will post a new story once tickets are sold out or on the stated closing date.
