San Antonio Chapter
About our Chapter:
The members of the NFBTX San Antonio Chapter work hard to spread our philosophy and raise expectations for those with vision loss. Our members participate regularly at local town hall meetings to improve public transportation and pedestrian accessibility within our city. We are coordinating with the San Antonio government and 311 SA to make city and county apps and services user friendly for persons using screen readers. The chapter has also shared its mission at local vision fares and accessibility events such as the Low Vision Expo, AccessAbility Fest, and the Official San Antonio White Cane Day. Members have held blood drives to help San Antonians in need. Through this advocacy we will continue to build the National Federation of the Blind by being active in the community. Many members make a difference at both the national and local level by participating in Washington Seminar as well as being certified in life-saving CPR and first aid training.
Come early to our meetings to socialize and get to know other members. Guest speakers and local blindness-related issues are frequently featured. It is 2026 and we have many new exciting things in the works, such as raising awareness of accessible voting options, holding CPR and first aid training, technology tutoring presentations, and adaptive techniques for our members, at all skill levels.
