It is with profound sorrow that we must report the passing of Harley Fetterman, who has been battling leukemia over an extended period of time. On Friday, July 29, doctors told his family that there was nothing more to be done, and he joined Heaven’s angels Sunday, July 31.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home (411 Ranch Rd 620 S, Lakeway, TX 78734). For those coming from out-of-town, there is a Holiday Inn located about 2 miles north of the funeral home.
Harley had a positive effect on everyone he met. After doctors delivered the sad news on Friday, Harley comforted them, emblematic of the sweet spirit he had.
“If you didn’t know him, you missed a real privilege,” said NFBTX President Norma Crosby. “If you did, you’ll have stories to share for the rest of your life.”
Born July 2, 1998, Harley was a longtime leader, mentor, friend, and shining star in our affiliate. Whether he was asked to mentor others or not, he always reached out to others.
Nevzat Adil remembers “meeting this very intelligent young man with a promising future not only for himself, but also for his family…including his Federation one…and for society at large.”
A scholarship fund, which will be administered by the National Federation of the Blind of Texas’ Scholarship Committee, has been established in Harley’s honor and will be awarded at this year’s annual banquet. You’re welcome to donate online to the Harley Fetterman scholarship fund or you can mail a check to the office.
Please send thoughts, prayers, or whatever brings you peace and comfort to Harley’s parents, Beth Freeborn and Kevin Fetterman. They will need our love during this difficult time.
