Texas Association of Blind Students
Texas Association of Blind Students
The Texas Association of Blind Students (TABS) serves as a resource for blind students throughout the state. The lively division is a cross-section of Texas students, including high school, college and non-traditional students, which comes together to discuss a wide variety of issues specific to blindness. Scholarships are awarded each year at the NFBTX State Convention to accomplished blind students pursuing their bachelor's, master's, and doctoral studies. TABS actively supports the state affiliate by participating in legislative events and community outreach. The Student Division collaborates with the National Federation of the Blind of Texas and the CAREER Mentoring Program to organize the annual NFBTX Student Summit each spring.
TABS members meet in person each year at the NFBTX Student Summit, state convention and the NFB National Convention. For more information, follow TABS on Facebook and Twitter.
