Every year, members and leaders of the National Federation of the Blind meet with our elected senators and representatives to introduce the agenda of blind Americans. This year, during our meetings scheduled for Jan. 24-28, one of our key issues is the passage of the Technology, Education, and Accessibility in College and Higher Education Act. We know that blind students are being denied access to critical course material because, even though technology offers the opportunity to expand the circle of participation, institutions of higher education are not purchasing software the blind students can use.
We are so passionate that students' voices get heard that we want to award $500 scholarship to cover the cost of travel to attend this important, life-changing event.
Applications must be submitted online via this Google Form, which closes on Dec. 4.
Sponsored by the Texas Association of Blind Students, the Glen & Norma Crosby Washington Seminar Scholarship is open to any blind Texan who is a current college or graduate student.
Please e-mail any questions to Bre Brown, President of the Texas Association of Blind Students.
