We’ve lost one our affilaite’s pioneers, and—for many of us—a dear friend. Jeff Pearcy has been waging a battle against dementia for the past few years, and Sunday, he passed away.

“Jeff was a larger than life character,” said Norma Crosby, President of the NFB of Texas. “He was always quick with a joke. He never met a blind person he wasn’t willing to help if they needed it.”

Guide Dog Users Needed for New NFB Testing Program

We're seeking guide dog users to participate in a new testing program that will help improve access to ride hailing services. If you are a person who uses a service animal or frequently travel with someone who is, you can be a tester. All it takes is completing a short questionnaire after a ride. Even if you do not use a ride share service on a regular basis, your feedback is valuable.

2018 NFBTX Scholarship Program Accepting Applications

ALVIN, TX - The National Federation of the Blind of Texas is currently accepting applications for its 2018 scholarship program. To qualify for consideration applicants must be legally blind residents of Texas. They must also be planning to participate in a full-time course of study at a college or university in the fall of 2018.

NABM to hold BLAST Women’s Walk November 16 in San Antonio

The National Association of Blind Merchants (NABM) is hosting its first WISE (Women's Initiative to Support Entrepeneurship) to heighten awareness and efforts to increase the number of blind women within the Business Enterprise Program (BEP). Of course, men are encouraged to participate as well!

The event will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 7:00 AM at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Inn Resort in San Antonio, TX.
